The basis of any logo is geometry. Even if the emblem does not have clearly defined figures, the text or picture is always inscribed in an invisible frame. Scientists have proven that ordinary geometric shapes are much faster perceived and better remembered, which is important for any brand. So, one of the most popular geometric shapes for visual identity design is an oval, that is, according to dictionaries, an outline in the form of an elongated circle, in the shape of an egg. Speaking of which, the word Oval itself comes from the Latin Ovum, which means “Egg”.
What other meanings and ideas does the oval shape carry? It turns out that in ancient times the oval was considered a symbol of female power, but to this day this geometric figure is very important in esotericism and mysticism. It carries creative and calm energy and symbolizes strength, charisma, charm, and intuition.
The oval does not and any corners, and therefore perceived as more pleasant and easy. The same friendly forms include the circle, however, the oval or ellipse looks more dynamic. And also horizontally placed oval is a talisman to attract success in business and financial matters. So it is not for nothing that large corporations from completely different spheres of activity choose this shape for their logos.
A&W
The logo of the A&W root beer brand is based on a slanted oval frame, drawn in brown and orange enclosing the bold stylized abbreviation, outlined in white and shadowed with a smooth and light caramel shade. The badge looks very friendly and warm, evoking a feeling of trustworthiness and coziness.
AC Milan
AC Milan has chosen a vertically oriented oval shape for its logo, as it was very commonly used in different heraldic crests and shields. The design of the logo is also based on heraldic elements: a circle in the center is divided into two halves — with red and black stripes on the left, and a bold cross on the right.

The Barilla logo has an oval as the main element.
