In the middle of 2014, Dodge published the specifications of the engine that was supposed to make the new Challenger SRT the manufacturer’s most powerful muscle car. It was an 8-cylinder 6.2-liter Hellcat compression engine with 717 hp and 880 Nm of torque.
Meaning and history
In May 2014, Dodge officially introduced powerful modifications of the Challenger coupe with the designation SRT and SRT Hellcat. The name Hellcat is a tribute to the American Grumman F6F Hellcat, a World War II aircraft.
The base Challenger SRT received a number of distinctive exterior details, such as a special-shaped hood, and front splitter, as well as a new rear apron and LED headlights. A more powerful modification SRT Hellcat is equipped with massive spoilers and active air intake, installed in place of one of the headlights. In addition, on the front fenders of this modification of the sports car are placed emblems with the inscription Supercharged.
Under the hood of the Challenger SRT is an atmospheric 485-horsepower Hemi V8 engine with a capacity of 6.4 liters, developing 643 Nm of torque. SRT Hellcat modification received a 6.2-liter version of the Hemi V8 engine with a mechanical supercharger. The output of this powertrain is more than 600 hp. – The engine is the most powerful in the history of the Chrysler Group.
Also, for the first time in the history of the Chrysler Challenger SRT Hellcat came with two key fobs. Red opens access to the full power of the motor, and black – limits it.
In 2023, the manufacturer announced that the production of Challenger and Charger would soon be discontinued. However, it was separately noted that the Durango SRT Hellcat will live until at least the 2024 model year.

The animal is depicted in profile, hence you can clearly see its long and sharp fangs. The red eyes of the cat emphasize the “Hell” part of the brand’s name and represent the incredible power of the Hellcat series cars.
Font and color
The stylish Hellcat logo has no lettering on it, however, you can sometimes see it near the corporate Dodge banner, with the bold extended inscription in a geometric sans-serif typeface.
As for the color palette of the Hellcat visual identity, it is based on a bright and the most dramatic tricolor — black, red, and white. The scheme represents strength, confidence, and determination. When placed on the Dodge cars, the logo turns into a glossy silver emblem.
