Meaning and history

My Diesel Claim, initiated by Pogust Goodhead, launched on April 7, 2021, in response to the increasing scrutiny over manufacturers for diesel emissions fraud. The campaign, focused on supporting diesel vehicle drivers, offered the possibility of claiming up to £10,000 for their vehicle’s involvement in the Dieselgate scandal. My Diesel Claim emerged as a response to the widespread industry issue of diesel emissions fraud, highlighted by the Dieselgate scandal which began with Volkswagen in 2015. This scandal involved several manufacturers allegedly installing defeat devices in vehicles between 2009 and 2020 to cheat emissions laws. The illegal vehicles, including those from Mercedes, were reportedly emitting over 40 times the EU and UK emissions limits, contributing to environmental harm and health issues.

My Diesel Claim has been pivotal in giving clients a voice against multinational corporations, holding them accountable for their impacts on health, the environment, and financial costs to customers. A significant achievement for My Diesel Claim came in May 2022, when Pogust Goodhead, representing over 15,000 drivers, secured a £193 million out-of-court settlement agreement from The Volkswagen Group for UK drivers.
