Today
The MSNBC Films logo incorporates the logo used by the MSNBC itself. The latter is a peacock with a multicolor, rainbow tail. It resembled a fan. The inscription was placed right underneath. “MSNBC” was printed in bold, sans-serif font using all caps. The characters are placed closely together for a cohesive look. The third line has “Films” printed using a finer sans-serif font. The letters are also all capitalized. A version where all the elements are lined up horizontally can also be used in some cases. The overall design was created to go with the larger brand image.
Font and Color
Although there is a whole rainbow in the logo, the black color of the inscription also plays a key role. The multicolor peacock is supposed to reflect the new era of colored TV as well as the variety of programs offered under larger MSNBC branding. The black gives the logo an established, trustworthy look. It is also a classic color that looks relevant no matter how much time passes.
The logo uses a combination of bold and regular font. The characters feature straight, clean strokes, no serifs, and close spacing. The font is custom-designed. It is called NBC Tinker Pro.
