Meaning and history
2011 – 2013
The Grand Theft Auto V visual identity repeats the series wordmark, which has been in use by the company since the release of the third part. The only difference is in the Roman number “V”, showing the new chapter of one of the world’s most famous video games.
The Grand Theft Auto inscription in all the lowercase lettering is executed in an extra-bold sans-serif typeface, which is very similar to Pricedown Black font, created by Typodermic.
The lettering is set in three levels. The letter “R” is the only capitalized letter of the inscription, and its curved and elongated tail connects to the “H” of the “Theft” part.
The Grand Theft Auto wordmark is drawn in white with a thick black outline, which makes the nameplate look bright and distinct on any possible background.
The GTA V emblem is a green Roman “V”, executed in a classic serif font, with tra-ditional elegant lines and a ribbon, which is horizontally arched and is placed over the “V”. The “Five” inscription in a bold serif typeface is paced on the ribbon.
The Grand Theft Auto visual identity is instantly recognizable and associates with a high-quality action game, while the green elegant emblem point on the chapter’s number and makes it one of a kind.
