The player can find out the origin of the mysterious darkness hanging over the kingdom and defeat the evil only after passing all the obstacles. Meaning and History
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time was released at the end of the last century. It embodied many innovations and immediately set new standards and influenced entire generations of game developers. Tears of the Kingdom is the continuation of the Legend of Zelda series, more specifically the Breath of the Wild (2017). The new series was released for the Nintendo Switch in the spring of 2023. It continues the story of Link and Princess Zelda in the imaginary world of Hyrule. The developers added new gameplay mechanics, expanded exploration possibilities, and included deeper narratives.
What is Tears of the Kingdom?
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is a new Nintendo Switch game in The Legend of Zelda series. Players get to try on the role of the brave swordsman Link, who sets off to save princess Zelda. In the fantasy universe, players find interesting and extraordinary tasks, fierce battles with enemies, and numerous shrines with thematic puzzles.
2021 (placeholder)
When the game was announced, the company used a simple inscription as a placeholder. It said “The Sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.” The logo features the same sophisticated serif font as the one used in the logo for the “Breath of the Wild.” Moreover, they kept the beige color. This allowed the fans of the game to instantly form a connection with the upcoming game. Besides text, which was split between three lines, the logo had no other elements hinting at the content of the game.
2023
The basis of the logo is a wheel that is done using two shades of green, including emerald green. It has an intricate design, which reflects all the mystery and puzzles one has to solve in the game and gives the logo an ancient style. The game fans have long debates on the meaning of this round emblem. Some say that it implies their cyclical destiny of reincarnation and constant battle, an eternal struggle, while others see it as a reference to the Zonai device from the game. On the left, there is a legendary master sword, which represents the fuse/craft ability. It goes right through the “Z” in “Zelda.” The latter is printed in large uppercase letters and features bold, condensed characters with a classic serif style. The rest of the name is added above and below using the same font but smaller characters.
Font and Color
The logo color palette features vivid colors that hint at the bright and colorful style of the game graphics and the atmosphere of the game. The bright emerald shade of green, which serves as the main color in the logo, is a perfect color choice for the enchanting and mysterious universe where the game takes place.
The word “Zelda” can be replicated using the Triforce font with the addition of wear and tear on the edges. The rest of the text is done using a bold, condensed serif font with strong, traditional character. It also has the edges appearing to be torn. The font appears to be based on Sapientia Medium Condensed or similar font.
