Meaning and history
The company now known as Alteryx was founded in 1997 as SRC LLC. Shortly after its inception, SRC developed the first online service for demographic charts and reports. In 2010, the company changed its name and took the name of its main product, Alteryx.
Alteryx enables business analysts to view underlying data, and metadata and utilize applied analytical tools at any stage of the process. The platform is designed to interface with a wide range of traditional data sources. It is also capable of processing data from cloud-based applications such as Google Analytics, Marketo, NetSuite, Salesforce, and Workday, as well as social media platforms Facebook and Twitter.
Alteryx analyzes its customers’ data using AI. These analytics help customers make business decisions in marketing, sales, costs, etc. that reduce costs and help build revenue. The platform consists of two main modules: Alteryx Designer, and Alteryx Server.
Alteryx Designer is an analytics platform where workflows are built. Alteryx Server – an environment that allows you to connect from a browser to this server and run analytical applications or execute workflows on a schedule.
What is Alteryx?
Alteryx is the name of a company that develops and manufactures software, including applications for data storage, access, management, analysis, and reporting, and serves customers worldwide. Alteryx is one of the leaders in artificial intelligence. Its clients include some of the world’s largest companies, such as Coca-Cola, Walmart and Gymshark.
In terms of visual identity, after the company was renamed, it has been using just one logo, a very modest and simple one, however, the lines and spacing of the wordmark show the platform as a super reliable and professional one.
1997 – 2008
The original logo, created in 1997, when the company’s name was SRC, featured a colorful composition, made of a three-dimensional emblem, depicting a gray and yellow globe surrounded by red orbits, and a bold uppercase lettering in an elegant serif font. The red orbits were accompanied by semi-transparent strokes, which added volume, and the black characters of the inscription feature thin yellow shadowing.
2008 – 2010
In 2008 the contours of the SRC logo were cleaned up, with all the unnecessary elements removed. The composition and style remained absolutely the same, but without shadows and outlines of some elements, the badge started looking more modern and neat.
2010 – Today
After the rename of the company to Alteryx, its logo concept was completely rethought. The new badge is based solely on the lowercase lettering, written in a bright blue color against a white background with no graphical additions. The lowercase inscription uses a modern designer sans-serif typeface, which represents the professional qualities of the company and the reliability of the platform.
Font and color
The medium-weight lowercase lettering from the primary logo of the Alteryx platform is set in a custom sans-serif typeface with some distinctive features, such as the letter “A”, which is also the company’s signifier, which can be seen in its digital icon. The closest fonts to the one, used in this insignia, are, probably, Stat Display Pro, or Yalta Sanstrade, with some visible modifications of the letters’ contours.
As for the color palette of the Alteryx visual identity, it is composed of a light and vivid shade of blue and white, which together create a perfect visualization of the company’s trustworthiness, professionalism, and reliability.
