1977 – 1979

Towson Tigers Logo 1977
The first logo was a circular seal with a tiger’s head colored black and orange inside. The seal was drawn using black, white and orange colors. In the white area of the logo, there was an inscription ‘Towson State University ‘Tigers’. It had a custom serif typeface.

1979 – 1985

The next logo by Tigers was a white rectangle split in two parts by a black line. In the upper part there was the ‘TSU’ acronym, written in a capitalized sans serif font. In the lower area of the rectangle, they put the name of the organization. A tiger stood on top of the rectangle.

1985 – 1995

The 1985 logotype depicted a human-like tiger, who wore a t-shirt with the ‘TSU’ acronym on it.

1995 – 1997

The 1997 logo featured an orange tiger with a dangerous grin. He put his hands on the inscription ‘Towson State’, written in one line, using capitalized serif font with black colored gaps between letters.

1997 – 2002

The logo of Towson Tigers created in 1997 featured a bright yellow and black combination of a graphical emblem placed above the stylized logotype in two levels. The upper part of the badge featured an image of a tiger. The animal looked serious and dangerous, reflecting the character and mood of the teams. As for the lettering, the “Towson” part was enlarged and placed above the “University” in all capitals of a bold geometric sans-serif typeface. The yellow letters of the inscription were all outlined in black.

2002 – 2011

This logo showed the word ‘Towson’, written in a sharp font, where the upper line of the letter ‘T’ was elongated and covered the rest of the word. Below it was the head of a tiger, drawn half-face. It was made using black, orange and white colors.

2011 – Today

Towson Tigers Logo

Both the current Towson Tigers logo and the previous one dwell on the tiger as its main element. On the current emblem, we can see the side view of a tiger’s head with its mouth open. There are sharp fangs that somehow “rhyme” with the way the word “Towson” is written above. The palette combines black and yellow.

What are Towson Tigers?
Towson Tigers is the name of the college athletic program of the Towson University in Maryland. The program consists of 19 teams (men’s and women’s) in different sports disciplines. The program is considered to be one of the most successful in the conference, with numerous wins in different competitions.
