Since 1999, the logo of the Carolina League team Myrtle Beach Pelicans has been based on a stylized depiction of a pelican. It wasn’t the same pelican, though.

The franchise’s first official game took place in the spring of 1999. Previously, the team played under the name of the Durham Bulls but changed its brand identity after relocation.

The 1999 Myrtle Beach Pelicans logo featured an anthropomorphized pelican over large teal letters “MB.” The creature was holding a bat in its “hands.”

The 2007 emblem

Unlike its predecessor, the pelican on the 2007 logo looks more like a bird than a baseball player. He’s standing on a baseball bat in the same way as any bird stands on a twig.

The updated color scheme combines two shades of blue with yellow and white.
