Since 1999, the logo of the Carolina League team Myrtle Beach Pelicans has been based on a stylized depiction of a pelican. It wasn’t the same pelican, though.

1999 — 2006

Myrtle Beach Pelicans Logo 1999The 1999 Myrtle Beach Pelicans logo featured an anthropomorphized pelican over large teal letters “MB.” The creature was holding a bat in its “hands.”

2007 — Today

Unlike its predecessor, the pelican on the 2007 logo looks more like a bird than a baseball player. He’s standing on a baseball bat in the same way as any bird stands on a twig.
