Meaning and history

Loyola Marymount Lions logo history

The lion mascot seems an obvious choice for the Loyola Marymount Lions logo. If you take a look at the previous primary logo, which was adopted in 2001, you’ll see a rather large lion in grey with a red and blue mane.
However, in the current version (since 2008), there are only the initials of the name of the university. Their shape is the same as on the previous Loyola Marymount Lions logo, while their color has changed to dark red with white and blue trim.
