Meaning and history
While the Jackson State Tigers logo used to feature a tiger once, the current version is purely typographic.
1980 – 1993
On the 1980 shield, the tiger was stepping down from a large blue “J.”
1994 – 2003
On the 1994 logo, the tiger was lying over the large letters “JSU.” On the forefront, the text “Jackson State University” was placed.
2006 – Today
In 2006, the Jackson State Tigers logo underwent a complete overhaul. It now features the letters “J,” “S,” and “U” each inside a rectangle. A noble soft shade of blue was adopted.

The men’s team has played in five NCAA Division II Tournaments and three NCAA Division I Tournaments. It boasts five appearances in the NCAA Division II Tournament and two appearances in the National Invitation Tournaments.

As of 2019, the team has earned 18 conference championships and has won the SWAC title sixteen times. Their head coach is John Hendrick. Their home arena is Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium.
