Fandango is the name of a mobile application, which offers its users movie tickets. The application was created in the 2000s, by Fandango LLC, formerly Ticketmakers, a company, that is owned by NBCUniversal and WarnerMedia. The Fandango app is one of the major products of the group, which was ranked as one of the best 50 applications for Android.

Meaning and history

Fandango Logo history

Being involved in the movie industry, the company uses an obvious symbol for its visual identity — a shape of the movie ticket, which perfectly represents the purpose of the application and the industry. Fandango App was not the first product of the group, as before the company was involved in tickets distribution via several websites, but with the launch of the application, all the web-portals got the common platform.

The Fandango logo was redesigned just once since the date of the App release, and the changes, implemented to the badge, are hard to call a redesign, more refinement, or modernization.

2000 – 2014

Fandango Logo 2000

The initial Fandango logo was created in 2000 and featured composition of a bright red emblem and a calm blue uppercase logotype. The emblem featured a capital letter “F” stylized as a cinema ticket, with its vertical bar featuring an arched cut-out element. The letter was executed in solid red, with a black outline and a light gray shadow. As for the wordmark, it was set in a modern sans-serif typeface, with extra-bold narrowed letters set pretty far from each other.

The redesign of 2014 switched the color palette of the badge to orange white and blue, and redrawn all the elements of the logo, keeping the original idea untouched. The capital sans-serif “F” was now written in white on a solid orange ticket, which is placed a bit diagonally. The emblem is set above the calm blue logotype, with the uppercase inscription set in a full-shaped sans-serif typeface, with thick lines and traditional cuts of the ends.
