The Super League is the name of the annual European competition between 20 football clubs. The League was established in 2021 by 12 teams, three more were added a bit later, and for completing the competition table five more clubs joined the event, which made the number of participants twenty.
Meaning and history
The Super League is a young event, which was only founded in 2021, so the visual identity of the League was designed in the same year and hasn’t been changed yet.
The visual identity of the most anticipated football event featured simple shapes and concepts, yet looks extremely powerful and confident. The designers decided to play more with colors, than shapes, even though the official primary version of the insignia is executed in a monochrome color palette.
The Super League logo is fully text-based. The wordmark is set in three levels, with all the letters in the uppercase. The three lines of the inscription are left-aligned, which makes it easy to place them on banners and posters, and also creates the “stairs” on the right side of the logotype.
Though all three words in The Super League logo are written in the same size and typeface, the first line differs from the two others, as it is executed in a reverse outlined color scheme, and this is what adds uniqueness and individuality to the emblem.
Font and color
The Super League text-based logo is written in all capitals of a modern yet simple and clean sans-serif typeface with full shapes of the letters, smooth thick lines, and traditional straight cuts of the letters’ ends. The typeface of the inscription is very close to such fonts as Kamerik 205 Text Heavy and Bw Nista International Black, though with some of the lines modified.
As for the color palette, The Super League visual identity used a monochrome version for its primary version. The upper line is executed in white and has a thin black outline, while the two bottom lines are executed in plain solid black.
When placed on a dark background, the concept of the logo’s color scheme changes and the two bottom lines become white, with no outline, and the upper level of the inscription turns gradient, with neon blue and purple shades, moving diagonally. This version of the logo looks more modern and memorable.
