Launched on October 17, 1997, Teletoon was the first all-animation channel in Canada. The network was formed through a joint venture between several major Canadian media companies, including Astral Media and the Corus Entertainment subsidiary of CanWest Global Communications. In 2006, Teletoon expanded by launching two sister channels—Teletoon Retro, which focused on classic animated shows, and Teletoon at Night, aimed at an adult audience with more mature content. Over the years, Teletoon has become known for its diverse lineup of animated series, both original productions and acquired content from other networks. Today, Teletoon continues to be a key player in the Canadian animation landscape, providing a platform for both Canadian creators and international content.

In this earlier version of the logo, the “T” and two “o”s are stylized to look like a cartoon character, emphasizing the channel’s focus on animation and entertainment. The logo is done in a vibrant palette of colors, creating a lively and fun appearance. The designer placed the name on a cloud-like shape and added a light green or blue frame to give it some volume. The emblem is typically seen on a black background with a “Produced with the participation of” line across the top.

2001 – 2007

The Teletoon logo still features a playful and colorful design that reflects the channel’s focus on animated programming for children and families. This version, though, has a red outline that not only looks bolder and more eye-catching but also appears to have more volume.

2007 – 2011

Teletoon underwent several rebranding efforts to modernize its image and adapt to changing audience preferences in the rapidly evolving television landscape. This time, they presented something very different. The logo no longer has a smiley face. Instead, the whole name is printed in one line using a three-dimensional font. The use of a yellow gradient added a fun, friendly, and energetic feel. It is followed by a line that says “Original Production” using a basic, sans-serif font of black color.

The overall design is energetic and appealing, aimed at attracting a young audience while conveying a sense of creativity and fun. This was achieved by making the sunny yellow color a base color and using white for the lettering. To make the name look unique, the designer made it look like it was printed on two sides of a cube. This three-dimensional title with a shadow underneath creates an illusion that there is a whole different and fun Teletoon world.

2014 – 2016

In 2014, Teletoon underwent a rebranding to refresh its image, adopting new logos and on-air graphics. The logo got a deeper shade of yellow and a more notable three-dimensional effect for the lettering. There is also a new tagline – A Corus Entertainment Company.

2016 – 2018

The logo still consists of the word “Teletoon” written in bold, geometric letters. The only thing that has been changed this time is the color palette. It was decided to bring back a brighter and lighter shade of yellow.

Font and Color

Teletoon Emblem

The original color palette consisted of white, black, red, sky blue, and light green. The light and bright colors dominated, creating a fun, friendly, and appealing brand image. Later, it made an accent on red, which made the audience excited to see what was being shown on Teletoon. For many years, the company has used vibrant and attention-grabbing yellow colors. Yellow in logos can effectively convey feelings of happiness, energy, and creativity while also standing out and attracting attention.

For the first ten years, the logo featured a custom, sans-serif font. It appears to be handwritten, which further enhances the appeal and friendliness of the logo and TV network. The first half is written using a font similar to the modified Soehne Schmal Halbfett by Kris Sowersby and Klim Type Foundry. The second half features a font that resembles Schematix Casual Bold by MrGeoff. Thereafter, the company used custom, bold, geometric fonts.
