Meaning and history

Jacksonville State Gamecocks Logo history

Both the previous Jacksonville State Gamecocks logo and the current one feature their mascot, Cocky the Gamecock. On the 1998 emblem, the bird is red with white feathers on its neck.
On the 2006 version, the gamecock is given from a different angle – the creature looks as if he was rushing towards you. The bird is placed inside a red ellipse housing the text “Jacksonville State,” while the word “Gamecocks” can be seen on the forefront of the Jacksonville State Gamecocks logo.
