Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York, is represented by the athletic teams nicknamed the Hofstra Pride.
Meaning and history
1988 – 2001
The old Hofstra Pride logo unveiled in 1988 was a white roundel housing a pretty intricate crest. It reminded a medieval coat-of-arms.
2002- 2004
The 2002 emblem was also based on a roundel. This time, it housed a lion and lioness.
2005 – Today
The two animals have remained on the Hofstra Pride logo adopted in 2005. Yet, now, they are depicted in a more abstract manner.
Hofstra Pride basketball
