Encanto is the name of an Oscar-winning animated movie, released by Disney in 2021. This fairy tale musical was directed by Jared ambush and Byron Howard and is Disney’s 60th full-length cartoon.

Meaning and history

The animated musical Encanto tells us a story of the amazing Madrigal family, which lives in a magical house tucked away in the mountains of Colombia, located in a wonderful and enchanting corner called Encanto. Every child in the Madrigal family has been blessed by the magic of the place with a unique gift, from superpowers to the ability to heal. But magic has bypassed young Mirabel, the main hero of the movie. Despite the lack of magical abilities, Mirabel will be the one to save everyone in Encanto

The music for this incredibly beautiful and colorful cartoon was composed by popular Latin American composers Jermaine Franco (Moana) and Lin-Manuel Miranda (Hamilton). All of the compositions are perfectly suited to the colorful setting and reflect Colombian culture.

The uppercase lettering in a custom sans-serif typeface is the main element in the Encanto badge, it is written in gradient green-to-blue letters, decorated by thin pink shadows and yellow bubbles, under the iconic Disney insignia, set in yellow to support the pattern of the badge. The letters slightly vary in size, and some are placed a bit higher than the others, making up a dancing composition. The curved elongated tails of the glyphs complete the magic and playful look of the logo.

Font and color

The bold and elegant uppercase logotype from the primary Encanto badge is set in a custom sans-serif typeface with lots of curves and elongated lines of the characters. The designer font has no commercial analogs but looks a little bit close to New Yorker Plus Swash Bold and, probably, Bannock Bear Gothic RR in terms of basic shapes.

As for the color palette of the Encanto visual identity, it is based on the combination of green and blue, with the addition of yellow and pink. The colors, which brilliantly represent the intense nature of Columbia, reflect the magical mood of the cartoon, and its kindness and brightness.
