XXXTentacion is the stage name of Jahseh Dwayne Ricardo Onfroy, an American rapper, who was born in 1999 and killed in 2018. During his short music career, the musician released four studio albums, which were all very popular along with the American young audience.
Meaning and history
Since early childhood, Jahseh got himself in trouble, and it hasn’t finished after he started his music career, on the contrary, it got escalated. XXXTentacion is one of those musicians who become popular not because of their music, but because of their wild escapades and scandal rumors.
The rapper made his first steps in music when he was in prison. The first track that appeared there, was the song called Vice City. After leaving the penitentiary, XXXTentacion recorded two mini-albums, which he posted on the Internet.
In 2016, the rapper went back to prison, where he wrote several more tracks. When he was released on bail in 2017, XXXTentacion began to actively make music and released three mixtapes during the year. At the end of 2017, the rapper got into trouble again and was arrested. All the time he was behind bars, the musician never stopped writing new tracks. In 2018, he was released again, but not for long. In June, the musician was shot dead on his way out of a car dealership in Miami.
What is XXXTentacion?
XXXTentacion was a rapper from Florida who skyrocketed to peak popularity in a couple of years, starting his career in 2015. The musician was born in 1998 and killed in 2018, but during his super-short music history, he managed to win the hearts of an army of fans with just a couple of tracks.
In terms of visual identity, the American rapper was more romantic than in his music. The symbols XXXTentacion used for his logos were very deep and dramatic and symbolizes loneliness and pain, which was not easy to see in the rough and strong musician.
2013 – 2018
The XXXTentacion logo is composed of a graphical part, underlined by a bold custom logotype. All versions of the musician’s badge are always executed in a black-and-white color palette, with no bright contrasting accents.
The emblems of the rapper varied: it could be a naked tree with no leaves, and with the numerous branches drawn in uneven lines. It was a representation of a lonely person, who is trying to reach the sun and happiness. The second option of the image in the XXXTentacion badge was a broken heart, which does not have to be explained.
As for the lettering, it could be seen in its shortened version, with just three “X”s in bold paintbrush strokes, or a full uppercase inscription, which was handwritten and had the ends of its bold lines uneven and torn.
2018 – Today
The redesign of the XXXTentacion logo, held in 2018, has created a more progressive and energetic insignia for the musician. It is now a one-lined lettering in a handwritten cursive with the uppercase characters evoking a sense of determination and power.
