Virginia Commonwealth Rams Logo

While the current Virginia Commonwealth Rams logo contains only a subtle allusion to the ram theme, the previous emblems referred to it in a more direct way.

Meaning and history

Virginia Commonwealth Rams Logo history

The current mark was introduced in 2014. Here, you can see the large white letters “V,” “C,” and “U” with black and yellow trim. The end of the “V” is curved in such a way that it looks like a ram’s horn.

On the previous emblem (1998), you could see the side view of the ram’s head with the letters “VCU RAMS” going along the back. During the previous decade (1989-1997), the university used a logo where the ram was depicted over the large black “V” with yellow trim.
