The most remarkable thing about the Velux logo is that it has remained pretty much the same over around eight decades of the company’s history.

Meaning and history

Velux Logo history

Velux is a manufacturer of roof windows and skylights based in Hørsholm, Denmark. It was founded in 1941. Today, the brand makes its products in more than ten countries and sells them in more than forty countries.

1941 – 1970s

The overall look of the Velux logo has remained pretty consistent. And yet, the older versions, which can be seen, for instance, in the 1950s-1970s photos, looked a little more elongated than the current one.

1970s – Today

Velux LogoThe logo features the word “Velux” in a pretty bold type. The serifs are large and have a rectangular shape, due to which the overall look of the font is pretty heavy. Also, the serifs provide a retro touch. While the width of the bars forming the glyphs slightly varies, the difference is not dramatic.

The color scheme looks exceptionally bright and energetic. Red is one of the most popular colors in logo design because of its proved positive effects on the human mood. It is of course not the only reason why Velux opted for this color. The combination of red and white is featured on the flag of Denmark, where the company is headquartered.
