1888

The original logo for Southern Illinois Salukis was introduced right after the establishment of the program, in 1888. It was a classy traditional badge in a gothic style, with the four overlapping letters in dark burgundy. Each of the letters had its ends forked and softened. Due to many vertical bars, the composition looked stylish and even a bit mysterious.

1914

The redesign of 1914 introduced a simplified badge in the same burgundy and white color palette. This time there were only two overlapping letters “S” and “I”, written in a bold serif typeface with rounded edges and thick lines. This simple emblem was used by the club for almost two decades.

1936

2001

In 2001 the badge changed its color palette to burgundy and black, with thin and delicate white accents and lines. The dog was now drawn in profile, facing to the right, and was executed in solid black, placed on a horizontally stretched burgundy oval in a black and white outline. The “Salukis” wordmark was set on the bottom part of the badge, in the same burgundy, white, and black color palette, and was accompanied by the white “Southern Illinois” in the uppercase, written in an italicized sans-serif typeface and set on a narrow black banner.
