Scat Pack is the name of a tuning package, designed by the Chrysler Corporation for one of its most iconic car marques, Dodge. The first Scat Pack times automobiles were introduced to the public in 1968, after that the company took a long break, until 2014 when Scat Pack was brought back for Dodge Challenger, Charger, and Dart models.
Meaning and history
The idea of the Scat Pack tuning is not new to the market. It includes the change of the color (usually black roof and red body, or Mayte black with some yellow accents), and the replacements of insides. The insides of the tuned cars are replaced according to three gradations. The first level involves comprehensive refinement: upgrading the intake and exhaust system, chip tuning the 5.7-liter V8-Hemi, and installing a sports suspension. The second level includes the replacement of camshafts, and the third — is a new cylinder block.
As for the salon of the Dodge Scat Pack cars, they feature stylish and bold leather seats and panels with black chrome and embroidered “Scat” emblems. Today the Dodge Scat Packs are available for the Challenger, Charger, and Dart models.
What is Scat Pack?
Scat Pack is Dodge cars tuning brand, which was first applied on the autos of the company in 1968, to increase the interest in the marque among the American buyers. Today the Scat Pack tuning is available for various Dodge models and offers a more powerful engine, recognizable design, and dozens of enhanced technical characteristics.
As for the visual identity, the Scat Pack is funny and cool, although its colorful caricaturish badge has a strong character and brilliantly represents the idea of the tuning package — making the car more powerful and fast. The Scat Pack logo is placed on every tuned car, which is always painted in the red, black, and yellow color palette.
1968 – Today
The Scat Pack logo was created in 1968, and placed on the bonnet of the very first cars tuned by Dodge. Since then the emblem has not changed much, and kept its funny recognizable symbol, complementing it by a horizontally stretched banner with a white or silver lettering on it. The banner comes out of the emblem to the left.
The bold and powerful lettering on the Scat Pack logo is set in the uppercase of a slightly slanted modern sans-serif typeface with thick lines, softened angles, and extended contours of the letters. It is a custom font, which is close to Venus Rising Bold Italic, but with some shapes modified.
As for the most interesting part of the Scat Pack visual identity, the emblem, it depicts a bee-racer, wearing a white helmet with black and red googles and driving a cart with four turbines. The yellow bee has both red and black stripes, and the car is executed in the same palette.
