RIT Tigers is a sports program founded in 1948 by Dr. Paul A. Miller at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). Since its inception, the Tigers have achieved numerous milestones and accomplishments. The program boasts a strong tradition in ice hockey, with the men’s team winning two NCAA Division II championships in the 1980s. The women’s hockey team has also been successful, earning multiple conference titles. RIT Tigers have excelled in other sports as well, including basketball, soccer, and lacrosse, with several teams making appearances in national tournaments. Currently, RIT Tigers continue to thrive as a competitive force in collegiate athletics, with a commitment to excellence and a strong fan base supporting their success.

RIT Tigers is not a company, but rather the sports teams representing the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) in collegiate athletics. They participate in various sports competitions, including hockey, basketball, and soccer.
1976 – 2003
The tiger theme has been very pronounced on the RIT Tigers logo since at least 1976. On the logo introduced in 1976, you could see the side view of the tiger walking to the right. Below, the large letters “R,” “I,” and “T” in black could be seen.
2004 – Today
In 2004, a more dynamic and emotional emblem was introduced. Now, the tiger was walking out of the lettering “RIT Tigers.” Both the old and the current logos share the same color scheme including orange, white, and black.
