The Pokemon GO game has made a real splash in the world of games. The app offers to search for and tame Pokemon hidden in the real world. AR has been used in games for several years, but Pokemon GO seems to have made a revolution as the app breaks popularity records. In total, Pokemon Go has about 250 types of Pokemon. One of the most important and main ones is Pikachu. When one has collected many Pokemon and has a considerable collection, players can join any team. Here, battles are not just one on one, but entire teams fight among themselves.

Meaning and History

Japanese company Nintendo released Pokemon GO on July 6th, 2016. In two days, it became the most popular app in the American App Store. By the way, a fun fact: the concept of Pokemon Go was invented back in 2014 as an April Fools’ Day collaboration of Nintendo, The Pokemon Company, and Google. In this collaboration, they made a joke: Google published a video in which they allegedly demonstrated a future function of the Google Maps service – the ability to catch Pokemon while traveling around the world using AR technology. It got viral, so the three companies invested 30 million dollars in Niantic to implement this project in reality. Over time, the game lost a lot of fans, but Niantic actively improved the game. Thus, in July 2019, a large-scale update took place. The game added antiheroes – Team “R”, which plotted and interfered with catching Pokemon. The release of the movie “Detective Pikachu” with its incredible revenue of $429,102,251 provoked a new wave of downloads of Pokemon Go.

Pokemon GO Logo

The logo features a vibrant and playful design that captures the essence of the game. It consists of the word “Pokémon” in a bold, stylized font. The letters are done in bright yellow, the color of Pikachu. They have a blue outline with a three-dimensional appearance. Moreover, there is a shadow inside the yellow strokes, making it seem that the yellow part is indented inward. The inscription is slightly arched to give the logo some dynamics and show that the game entails movement. At the very bottom, there is the word “GO”. It is done in deep blue with night sky in the upper half and Earth horizon across the bottom. The center of the “O” is done in red and white and resembles one of the poke ball types.

Font and Color

Pokemon Go Emblem

The two main colors in the logo are sunny yellow and different shades of blue. There is also a splash of red and white, which are meant to remind of the poke balls in the game. The yellow is undoubtedly the color of one of the main characters – Pikachu. The color palette turned out eye-catching and appealing.

The logo features a bold, funky, geometric font without serifs. Each character is unique and there are no uniform strokes, which gives it a cartoonish and playful appearance. The “Pokemon” part is printed using a bold, sans-serif font similar to Waste of Time 5 by PizzaDude and PN Toy Time by ScrapNfonts. The “GO” part is printed using a font similar to Google’s exclusive Product Sans, an ExtraBold version, Relish Pro font, and Futura font.
