The University of the Pacific in Stockton, California, is represented by the 18 varsity teams competing as the Pacific Tigers.
Meaning and history
1962 – 1973
The old Pacific Tigers logo, which was used in 1962-1973, was pretty cluttered. You could see a huge tiger leaping high over a stadium, which looked very small in comparison with the orange and black animal. The letters “COP” were written on the stadium.
1998 – Today
The emblem introduced in 1998 looks more like a real sports logo. Here, we can see a stylized tiger’s head facing to the right. The side view of the head is pretty abstract and dynamic. Also, the creature looks very aggressive.
