Moncler is a luxury fashion brand, established in 1952 in France. It is most known for high-end ski and apres-ski collections and quilted outerwear. Moncler has its retail stores across the globe and is one of the most recognizable labels in the segment.
Meaning and history
The name of the brand, Moncler, is derived from the name of the village, where it was created — Monestier-de-Clermont. And at the very beginning of its history, the brand was manufacturing only sleeping-bags. Today this name is synonymous with the most luxury down-jackets and skiwear.
The Moncler logo is instantly recognizable and is composed of a wordmark and an emblem above it.
The wordmark in all capital letters is executed in a bold glyphic serif typeface, which is similar to the font, created by Ernst Friz, Friz Quadrada. It looks sleek and elegant.
The Iconic Moncler emblem is a stylized letter “M”, drawn in two colors — blue and red. It is an abstract image of a cockerel, which is also a national symbol of France. The brand started using it as an emblem in the 1960s after it became an official supplier of the French Olympic ski team.
The Moncler color palette repeats the French flag’s tricolor — blue, white and red. It is a classic combination, which symbolizes power, authority, passion, and loyalty.
The Moncler badge, which can be seen on all the brand’s jackets, repeats the logo but is placed into a rounded figure and the wordmark is arched.
