Meaning and history

Mid-American Conference Logo

The Mid-Continent Conference was founded in 1982 under the name of the Association of Mid-Continent Universities. In 1989, it changed its name to the Mid-Continent Conference and existed with this brand identity until 2007 when it became the Summit League.
