The athletic teams representing the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa in Honolulu compete under the nickname of the University of Hawaiʻi Rainbow Warriors and Rainbow Wāhine.
Meaning and history
1982 – 1997
Before this logo, the team used the rainbow emblem introduced in 1982. In fact, there was not a whole rainbow but only four colors. The rainbow on the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors logo started from the letters “U” and “H” in white and black.
1998 – Today
The Hawaii Warriors logo has remained virtually unchanged since 1998. It is based on a stylized letter “H.” It does not look like a regular “H,” though. Instead of the horizontal bar, there is a wave. The even sides have been replaced by angles (a totem pole design).
Hawaii Warriors basketball
The men’s team has competed in five NCAA tournaments, eight National Invitational Tournaments, and two CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournaments. They also appeared in the 1949 NAIA Tournament.
Hawaii Warriors baseball
The team coached by Mike Trapasso uses Les Murakami Stadium as its home arena. The Warriors have been to the College World Series one time.
