The original Big East Conference logo, which was used from 1979 to 1992, featured the name of the conference in a very heavy sans serif type. The words “Big” and “East” were given in red and dark blue respectively. They were by far larger than the article “the,” which was colored dark blue.

1993 – 2004

On the emblem introduced in 1993, a slab serif type was used. This time, there was the lettering “Big East” in dark blue with the word “Conference” in white written across a red banner.
