3ds Max is a 3D modeling software, developed by Autodesk in 1996. The program is widely used by professional architects, designers, and video-games creators, and has its Windows version available in seven languages.
Meaning and history
The 3Ds Max logo was dramatically changed in 2013. The first version of the logo features an abstract emblem, and after 2013 the logo became a strong and confident representative of the software, it was composed of a wordmark with an emblem on its left.
2003 – 2013
The 3Ds Max emblem from the 2000s depicted a swirl, formed by two abstract snakes. The three-dimensional emblem was executed in white and placed inside a white square. The light gray shades were used to create a contrast.
2013 – 2016
In 2013 the emblem was changed to a dark turquoise 3D model of the number “3”. The wordmark in all capitals was executed in a clean and neat sans-serif typeface and placed in the right of the emblem. The black color of the lettering added a sense of professionalism and quality.
2016 – Today
The 3Ds Max logo from 2016 has a refined and more distinct three-dimensional “3” icon, which is now placed not in a half-turn, as before, and easily recognizable.
The wordmark’s typeface was slightly modified as well. The last “K” of the “Autodesk” now features a curved playful tail, which adds uniqueness to the logo and makes it interesting to look at.
