The Boys series is more of an anti-superhero series. The positive characters here are people who have suffered in one way or another from the actions of “supes” and dream of taking revenge on the heroes who imagine themselves to be gods. They are evil, vengeful, weak, but very inventive people who want the death of the idols of millions. “The Boys” are tasked with monitoring and controlling the actions of these superhumans. Led by the ruthless Billy Butcher, the team includes members with unique skills and backgrounds.

Meaning and history

The series debuted in 2006 and ran for 72 issues until 2012. Initially, they were published by WildStorm (an imprint of DC Comics) before moving to Dynamite Entertainment. “The Boys” has gained significant popularity beyond the comic books. It was adapted into a hit television series that premiered on Amazon Prime Video in July 2019. The show, produced by Eric Kripke, stayed true to the comic’s themes while expanding on character backstories and narratives.

The BOYS logo

The logo features a simple, yet striking design. It is just the name of the series that is done in bold black font. However, the letters are stylized to look worn and even somewhat broken. This distressed texture is a perfect reflection of the dark and rebellious spirit of The Boys. It also shows that seemingly powerful characters are not as perfect as they might seem at first glance. To add even more personality to the logo, the designer printed the article “The” on a tilted line, which partially coincided with the cut “B” and cracked “O”.

Font and Color

The main color of the logo is black. It creates a sense of intensity and aggression that aligns with the series’ themes of power and brutality in a superhero context. There are also splashes of white, which is meant to show that there is still some good in the world and it tries its best to overcome the bad.

The logo features a bold, sans-serif font. Although this is a custom font, it closely resembles typefaces such as Bebas Neue font and Charlie Doesn’t Surf font. Both have a bold, geometric look with a powerful appearance.
