After a month-long online voting, the leaders of the United Arab Emirates have presented the winning logo that will be representing the country to the world.
The official presentation, that took place at the Presidential palace Qasr al Watan in Abu Dhabi, was led by Vice President Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The logo represents a symbolic map of the UAE formed with seven stripes in the colors of the country’s national flag that, in turn, symbolyze the seven Emirates. The stripes also pay tribute to the UAE’s seven founding fathers. The outline of the logotype also resembles a horse that reflects the culture of horse breeding and the traditional Shadwell horse racing.
Overall, seven has been a special number for the whole UAE Nation Brand project as the government gathered a team of 49 artists – seven from each emirate – to create an integer symbol for the country. The members of this group, called the Inspiring 49, offered their works which were to be selected by a public voting. The voting on a special website was available not only for citizens and residents of the UAE, but also for people around the world. This, according to Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid, demonstrates openness of the United Arab Emirates as well as their willingness to collaborate with other countries.
