Launched in 2017, in Santiago, Chile, Spora is an innovative company that specializes in the development of sustainable materials based on mycelium, a fungal structure essential to the natural ecosystem. In collaboration with partners from the worlds of design and fashion, Spora creates eco-friendly luxury products, using biological processes to transform the way materials are made. Their mission: to introduce sustainable and eco-friendly solutions to the luxury industry, while promoting biodiversity and natural cycles.
The brand recently undertook an identity overhaul, supported by the Spanish design agency Mucho, with the aim to better reflect its commitment to sustainability while firmly positioning itself in the world of modern luxury industry. This new visual identity is not just a simple graphic evolution; it embodies a deep resonance with nature, the life cycle of materials and the cutting-edge technology that is shaping the future of sustainable materials.
A bio-sourced symbol
Spora’s new sign, inspired by the Fibonacci spiral, is composed of concentric circles representing mushroom spores in dispersion. This symbolic choice evokes the natural process of growth and reproduction of the mycelium, materializing the idea of propagation and transformation. Through this approach, the logo highlights not only the importance of biological cycles, but also the innovative nature of Spora’s products, which are developed in a framework that respects natural resources.
This icon is accompanied by a wordmark designed in a typeface that plays on the idea of appearance and disappearance, perfectly illustrating the interaction between what is visible and invisible in nature. The thin strokes are so fine that they break the letters into several parts while the result underlines the parallel between the invisibility of the natural processes of the mycelium underground and their crucial influence on the environment. The pointed endings of the serifs contribute to this impression of immateriality of the logotype as well as to the sophistication of Spora’s image.
Homage to Patagonia
Spora’s new color palette is directly inspired by Chilean Patagonia, a region rich in biodiversity and the cradle of the raw materials used by the company. The natural shades of earth, moss and stone evoke raw nature and sustainability, reinforcing Spora’s anchoring in an authentic aesthetic, while highlighting the harmony between luxury and ecology. To complete this visual identity, images generated by artificial intelligence skillfully merge the world of mushrooms and that of textiles. This artistic approach allows Spora to symbolize the perfect union between technological innovation and the ancestral wisdom of natural materials, highlighting their desire to reconcile design, science and nature in an avant-garde approach.
Luxury and sustainability
Spora and Mucho have joined forces to convey a strong message: modern luxury must be part of a sustainable dynamic. With the slogan “Luxury speaks a new language: sustainability”, Spora positions itself as a key player in eco-responsible luxury, seeking to redefine the standards of an industry in full transformation. This new visual identity reinforces the idea that the future of luxury lies in a commitment to the environment and innovation.
In general, this rebranding project by Mucho perfectly captures the very essence of Spora: a visionary brand, at the crossroads of science, design and nature, ready to revolutionize the luxury and textile industries thanks to its innovative and environmentally friendly materials.
