On the occasion of the 2023 Australian Open which started this Monday in Melbourne, Daniil Medvedev has unveiled his own logo created in cooperation with Lacoste. Thus, the Russian tennis player has joined Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, and other tennis stars who already have their brand logos.
In his logo concept, Medvedev aimed to highlight one of his passions – gaming – designing the emblem to resemble the buttons of a gamepad. Presenting the logotype, the tennis player published a gaming-style video featuring two fans of Daniil who fight in a “guess game”, with Medvedev himself as a judge, and try to guess what the logo’s elements mean. “Very happy to launch my own logo with Lacoste. A very unique design in link with my everyday passions”, the athlete commented.
As for the details, Medvedev’s logo is made up of four elements. The circle on the top represents a tennis ball, the blocky “D” and “M” are his initials, and two vertical bars on the bottom refer to the double “i” in his first name, which can also be interpreted as a Pause button.
Lacoste uses this emblem as an opportunity to promote its Daniil Medvedev apparel collection. One can see the DM logo on Daniil’s polo (at the lower right). It is additionally imprinted on the inner side of the polo’s collar. This sign was also noticed on Medvedev’s rackets provided by Tecnifibre which is a division of Lacoste.
As Medvedev says, the idea to create a logo for him came from Lacoste, and he takes pride in it. It was real teamwork with the sportswear brand, according to Daniil. The tennis player also hopes that this unique logo will bring him success in the 2023 season. Despite the greater pressure on him expected this season, Medvedev has enough ambitions to deliver the best tennis with his new personal signature.
