Looking for a new investor to strengthen things out, AS Saint-Etienne, playing in France’s Ligue 1, is aiming to accelerate positive changes with a fresh visual identity. The club has unveiled three versions of its future logo to be voted by its fans. While the vote will end on November 28th, the winner will be announced in December.
Back in September, ASSE initiated consultations with its fans on the club’s new logo. The main idea about the emblem was to make it more modern, corresponding to the requirements of the present.
Saint-Etienne’s management gathered a developing group of 42 that drew up the basic traits for the new crest. The team’s work resulted in three logos which, while putting accents on different things, still share some elements like green color, stripes, and a star.
The club’s first variant features the blazon of the city of Saint-Etienne, special typography for the club’s name, and stripes following the curved edges of the logo.
The “1933” drawn on a ribbon in the lower part is a distinguishing element of the second version. Highlighting the year when the club turned professional, adopting its current name, the logo puts an accent on ASSE’s history. The green and white straight stripes here are separated from the upper part of the emblem.
Finally, logo 3 features a banner with the name of the city that is also an unofficial name of the club. However, a more remarkable element is oak and laurel leaves embracing the crest.
While the next official logo will be announced next month, the new ASSE brand identity will be used since the 2022/2023 season.
