On July 22, 2024, the Campaign Committee for U.S. President Joe Biden filed a notice with the Federal Election Commission nominating Vice President Kamala Harris as a primary candidate in the upcoming presidential election. In addition, Biden’s campaign committee, formerly called “Biden for President,” has changed its name to “Harris for President.”

Kamala Harris was born in 1964 in Oakland California to an immigrant family. Her Indian-born mother was a breast cancer survivor and her Jamaican-born father taught at several universities, worked as an economist in various countries, and finished his career as a Stanford professor.

The politician received her higher education at Howard University in Washington, D.C., where she studied political science and economics, and at the Hastings College of Law at the University of California, San Francisco. While still a student, she became involved in political activism.

At the turn of 1980-1990, Harris began her professional career as an assistant prosecutor in Alameda County in Oakland. In 1998, she moved to the position of Assistant District Attorney of San Francisco County, and in 2003, she became District Attorney there. Harris held this position until 2011.

In 2016, Harris won election to the U.S. Senate and became the first Indo-American senator. In 2019, Harris announced her candidacy for U.S. president but later dropped out of the race and became the vice presidential nominee under Biden.

And as early as July 2024, all 50 Democratic Party state chapters endorsed Kamala Harris as the party’s new U.S. presidential candidate. Harris’ campaign raised a record 81 million dollars in the first 24 hours.

In terms of visual identity, the Kamala Harris Presidential Campaign used the official colors of the Democratic Party, blue and red, and a simple composition — clean and readable lettering, set on a white background.

The Kamala Harris Presidential Campaign logo, introduced at the end of July 2024, is composed of a bold blue uppercase “Harris” inscription, accompanied by the “President” in the same style but smaller characters, and a delicate red “For” written in a classy cursive font. The delicacy of the red element and the stability and confidence of the blue ones make up a very professional and distinctive badge.

After U.S. presidential candidate Kamala Harris was selected as vice president, the campaign logo was changed. Now it featured just two names: Harris and Walz, written one under another in dark blue bars of a geometric sans-serif typeface. The characters of the upper level are narrower yet taller than the ones from the second line. There are no graphical or color accents in the badge, which makes it look serious, confident, and professional, just as expected from the presidential campaign.
