Airborne Express is an American cargo airline that was founded by Adrian Dalsey, Larry Hillblom, and Robert Lynn in 1947. The company quickly established itself as a leader in the express delivery industry, pioneering the concept of overnight air delivery. Airborne Express introduced the first integrated air-ground system and automated package tracking.

In 1980, it became the first airline to receive full authorization to operate a nationwide delivery service in the United States. What is Airborne Express?

1980 – 1990’s
The first version of the Airborne Express logo was set in a black-and-white color palette and looked very strong and stable. The badge was composed of an uppercase geometric inscription in two levels, underlined by three parallel horizontal lines, with a sharp diagonal cut on the right.
1990’s – 2003
In the middle of the 1990s the logo of the company got redrawn in red and black, with the original concept kept almost unchanged. The “I” in the “Airborne” turned from lowercase to a capital one, the three lines got elongated to the left, and both two levels of the inscription gained red characters at the beginning of each word.
