Meaning and history

Venmo Logo

Venmo is easy to use, simple and fast. It does not take a commission for money transactions between the users, and it takes only 3 to 4 working days to get the money from the app to your bank account.

Venmo allows you to instantly send money to someone using a credit card, debit card, or bank account. Many people don’t realize that PayPal owns Venmo. Venmo is essentially a simpler alternative payment service offered by the same company.

And this simplicity and convenience are reflected in the visual identity of the application, which has never been changed since the first logo, designed in 2009.

The Venmo logo is composed of two parts, an emblem and a logotype, which is usually placed under it. The emblem, which also works as an icon, is a solid blue square with rounded angles and a bold white stylized letter “V” on it. The letter has its right bar arched, adding volume and a sense of movement to the emblem, which is also enhanced by a slight inclination to the right.

As for the logotype, it is executed in the lowercase of a smooth and sleek sans-serif typeface, with the letter “V” repeating the shape of the one from the service’s icon.

Font and color

The Venmo wordmark, which is written in the lowercase, is set in a modern and bold sans-serif typeface, with the first letter slightly modified. The italicized font of the inscription is very similar to such commercial typefaces as Ronnie ExtraBold Italic and Klein Condensed ExtraBold Italic, with their massive letters, full of stability, yet with some elegance too.

As for the color palette, the Venmo logo uses a combination of light blue and white, the best two colors to represent reliability and security, which is the number one priority for the online-payment application. White here also works as a symbol of transparency and trustworthiness, while blue accents on professional qualities and confidence.

The smooth lowercase lettering from the primary Venmo badge is set in a heavy yet elegant typeface, which is pretty close to such fonts as Bommer Sans ExtraBold Italic and Praxis Next Pro Black Italic, but with the contour of the “V” softened and modified.

As for the color palette of the Venmo visual identity, it is based on a combination of medium-blue and white, which evokes a sense of protection, security, and reliability, this color scheme is most often used by IT and innovative companies.
