Meaning and history

Vanilla Air is a Japanese low-cost airline founded by All Nippon Airways (ANA) in 2011. It aimed to provide affordable air travel options to passengers. Since its inception, Vanilla Air has achieved several milestones. In 2013, it became the first Japanese airline to introduce a self-service baggage drop system. It also expanded its route network, offering flights to various domestic and international destinations, including Taiwan, South Korea, and Hong Kong. The airline focused on providing efficient services and maintaining competitive fares.

However, in 2019, Vanilla Air merged with Peach Aviation, another low-cost carrier, to form a new entity called “Peach.” This merger was part of ANA’s strategy to consolidate its low-cost airline operations. As a result, Vanilla Air ceased its operations under its own brand name. Today, the merged entity, Peach, continues to operate as a prominent low-cost airline in Japan, offering a wide range of domestic and international flights to travelers.
