2002 – 2011
The logo of the Stephen F Austin Lumberjacks team from 2002, didn’t differ from the one we all can see today much. It was a white silhouette of the Texas state in a medium-weight dark blue outline, with the solid blue five-pointed star placed on its right part. The overlapping diagonally set “SFA” abbreviation was set from upper left to bottom right corners of the logo, right over the state contour. The letters were executed in a massive geometric serif typeface, in a blue, dark blue, red, and white color palette, with blue — for the body of the letters, and white and red — for the outline.
2012 – 2019
The current Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks logo was introduced in 2012. The emblem showcases the letters “S,” “F,” and “A” positioned diagonally. The glyphs overlap in a slightly awkward way making the “F” and “S” half-hidden. This certainly damages legibility. On the background, you can see the map of the state of Texas.
2020 – Today
This design is compositionally the same as the original one. However, they turned everything either white or purple and got rid of all the 3D elements that were present in the original.
