What is Samsara?
Samsara is the name of an American technology company offering Internet of Things (IoT) solutions. Was founded in 2015 by two former MIT graduate students John Bicket and Sanjit Biswas, who had previously successfully sold their startup to Cisco.
In terms of visual identity, Samsara is a very progressive and young company, as its logo is super cool and fun, yet at the same time looks very professional and confident.
2015 – Today
The Samsara logo is composed of two parts: a hand-drawn graphical emblem and a clean and neat lowercase logotype. Both parts are executed in a deep shade of blue, which in combination with white creates an image of a strong professional company. The Samsara emblem is a stylized minimalistic owl, which is known to be a symbol of wisdom and vigilance. Considering the sphere of the company’s activity, the choice of this animal for the mascot is more than understandable.
Font and color
The medium-weight lowercase lettering from the primary logo of Samsara is executed in an elegant sans-serif typeface which has somewhat in common with such fonts as BR Firma or Rosanova but with the modified contour of the “R”, which resembles an owl’s foot.
As for the color palette of the Samsara visual identity, it is based on the combination of blue and white, colors, which symbolize security, reliability, and expertise.
