Olympia is the name of one of the world’s most important bodybuilding events, which was first held in 1965. The founder of Olympia is Joe Weider, the renowned trainer and founder of the International Federation of Bodybuilders, a true legend. The most famous winner of this competition in its history was Arnold Schwarzenegger, with 7 victories. It was thanks to him that Olympia became so popular around the globe.

Meaning and history

Joe Weider is a legendary man who realized back in the mid-1930s that bodybuilding had a great future. Weider was the originator of bodybuilding, in fact, he founded Your Physique magazine, which became the ancestor of other popular themed magazines such as Muscle & Fitness and Shape, Joe Weider also founded a sports nutrition brand that is still relevant today.

However, back to Olympia. In 1965, Joe Weider organized a super bodybuilding tournament in which only the most famous athletes could participate.

By that time there were already other bodybuilding competitions such as Mr. America, Mr. World, and Mr. Universe, but the basic rules of these contests stated that any athlete who had won the title once was not eligible to compete again. Mr. Olympia had a different policy. Only this tournament allows the medalist to demonstrate his successes to a wide audience, and annually defend and confirm his titles as long and often as his physical condition allows.

Over the years, the competition has grown and developed, with new categories appearing and more athletes being able to compete in them. In addition, the Olympia prize money grew, because Joe Weider wanted to ensure that athletes could not only win titles but also earn money.

In terms of visual identity, Olympia is a brand, that sticks to its historical heritage, which perfectly emphasizes the main values of the competition, showing such qualities as strength, masculinity, and pride.
