The logo, created for Monarch Airlines in 1978, featured a combination of a title case lettering and a pretty simple emblem, composed of a capital letter “M” with a solid black rhombus, making the letter look like a crow with three peaks and three roundel’s above them. The inscription was also set in black, and used an extra bold sans-serif typeface.

The redesign of 2002 has kept the idea of the original emblem, but refined and modernized the contours of all elements and switched the color palette of Monarch Airlines’ visual identity to blue and yellow. The emblem was now placed on the left from the wordmark, which got its typeface changed to a contemporary sans-serif.
