Macron is the name of a sportswear brand, which was established in 1971 in Italy. The company is well known for designing and producing uniforms for sports teams, as well as leisure and activewear for men, women, and kids. The yearly revenue of the company is about 80 million EUR.
Meaning and history
Today Macron is a well-known Italian brand specializing in the production and sale of team and coaching equipment for soccer, volleyball, basketball, handball, rugby, and running. However, when it was founded in 1971, the company was only a distributor of American sports brands in Italy, and this continued to be the case for the first two decades of Macron’s history.
It was only in 1994 that the company decided to start producing its own brand. Rich experience of cooperation with American brands helped the Italian company to organize all the processes correctly, and in ten years Macron became a brand known throughout Europe, Canada, and the United States.
During the years of independent activity, Macron had contracts with many sports clubs, including Italian FC Bologna, English FC Bolton Wanderers, German Munich 1860, Portuguese Sporting Lisbon, and many others.
To date, Macron has gained particular success, which is largely due not only to the quality of high-tech products but also to the services provided by the company. In addition to producing soccer equipment, Macron is engaged in supplying uniforms for baseball, basketball, volleyball, futsal, handball, and rugby teams. The company has sponsorship contracts with several national teams and professional clubs in the above-mentioned game sports. Macron’s motto is Work Hard & Play Harder.

The contemporary Macron visual identity, composed of a stylish logotype with an emblem inside it is memorable and chic, reflecting the strong spirit of sport and showing everything can be elegant and sophisticated.
Executed in a black-and-white color palette the logotype of the Italian sportswear brand in the lowercase is written in a modern and smooth sans-serif typeface with rounded angles and pointed tails of “M” and “R”.
The emblem and the icon of the label are placed inside the wordmark, instead of the letter “O”, and composed of a solid black dot with geometric figures on it. The figures make up a stylized silhouette of a person with his hands up, and consists of a rhombus (the head) and a triangular shape, pointing down, resembling an arrowhead (the body).
The geometric composition, looking like a man, a flower, and an arrow, represents happiness, energy, and progress showing the main qualities and values of the famous European apparel brand.
???? – Today
After the redesign, the logo of the company was strengthened and simplified, with the graphical emblem moving out of the wordmark and being placed in the left part of the composition, as a self-sufficient emblem. Now the badge features a solid black geometrically stylized image of a person with their hands up, and a stable lowercase inscription written in a modern sand-serif typeface, just like the one on the previous version of the logo.
Font and color
The monochrome color palette of the Macron logo is a reflection of style and sophistication, which also points to the label’s professionalism and high quality of its garments. The black and white combination looks great on any background and tags of the branded apparel.
The typeface of the black sleek wordmark is custom, yet similar to Kandira Black extended with its soft yet confident lines and modern contours.
