1971 – 2007
The El Al logo, designed in 1971, has not only stayed with the Israeli air carrier for longer than thirty years but also became a basis for the future redesign. The original version boasted a lettering in Hebrew and English, set in two shades of blue — the darker one for the English letters, and the lighter one for the Hebrew ones. The dark blue characters stand straight, while the light ones are slanted to the right. The whole line is accompanied by the national flag of Israel( set in dark blue and white.
2007 – now
The redesign of 2007 has switched the color palette of the El Al logo to blue and gray and softened the contours of the characters. Now both parts of the wordmark stand straight, and the logotype is underlined by a small lightweight tagline in gray, written in Hebrew. The flag has stayed untouched.
