The history of the Williamsport Crosscutters franchise started in 1994 in Pennsylvania. Back then they were members of the New York — Penn League, and this membership lasted up to 2020. Throughout these years the Crosscutters have changed three affiliate MLB clubs: Chicago Cubs, Pittsburgh Pirates, and Philadelphia Phillies. However, in 2021 the team was invited to join the MLB Draft League, so to this date, they remain an unaffiliated club.
The brand identity of the Williamsport Crosscutters was inspired by the crosscut saw, the main tool used to harvest the lumber. In this way, the team wanted to honor their home city’s history in the lumber industry.
Following the change in affiliations, a new, more refined emblem was developed by the firm Plan B Branding, which is now known as Brandiose.
Like the Philadelphia Phillies, the Williamsport Crosscutters have red, navy blue, and white in their logo. And yet, the shades are different. Moreover, the palette of the Williamsport franchise is more complex – it also includes grey, tan, and ivory.
