Sass was founded by Hampton Catlin in 2006. Its main achievements include becoming the most mature, stable, and powerful CSS extension language, introducing features like variables, nesting, and mixins which greatly enhance CSS management. Sass has been instrumental in the development of numerous web frameworks and is widely adopted in both small and large-scale projects for its compatibility with all CSS versions. Currently, Sass is an open-source project supported by a consortium of tech companies and a global community of developers. It remains a leading tool in web development for creating scalable and maintainable style sheets.
2006 – Today
The name of the program, Sass, is a derivative from Syntactically Awesome Style Sheets. And it’s script logo is a reflection of elegance and sophistication.
The Sass script logo is executed in a Freeboter typeface, which boasts smooth curved lines, looking even more fine and elegant in the signature pink color.
The upper part of the first “S” is elongated and curves above the letters “A” and “S”, while the last “S”s tail curves to the right of the wordmark, creating a balance.
The calm pink color of the Sass visual identity is a symbol of love and tenderness, the use of this shade makes the logo sentimental and girly.
The Sass logo looks more like an emblem for a cosmetic brand or a fashion label for young ladies. It is very light and delicate, showing the attention to detail and love of its creators.
Sometimes the logo is used in a monochrome palette. And white lettering looks modern and confident on a white background, creating a stylish and strong image.
