The University of Pennsylvania, which is located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, sponsors over 30 varsity teams. The school has been exceptionally consistent in its athletic logo, which has remained mostly unchanged for almost have a century.
Meaning and history
The Penn Quakers logo introduced in 1973 showcased the letter “P” inside a shield. In the top field of the shield, the word “Penn” could be seen. Originally, it was given in white with red nuances over the blue background.
On the updated logo, the red nuances in the lettering “Penn” disappeared, while the shade of both red and blue grew darker and nobler.
