Meaning and history

New Hampshire Wildcats logo history

The cat was probably the most obvious source of inspiration for the New Hampshire Wildcats logo. The artist chose to depict the side view of the cat’s head. Its mouth is open, and you can clearly see the sharp fangs. The fangs, together with the overall expression of the muzzle, help to give the design the aggressive feel necessary for any athletic logo.

On the older versions, there was also the cat’s head, but it looked different. It was facing forward and was more realistic.
