The first logo for LOT Polish Airlines, created in 1928, has stayed with the company for almost half a century. It was a blue and white composition with an enlarged “LOT” lettering enclosed between two small solid circles. The main wordmark was accompanied by a slanted “Polskie Linie Lotnicze” inscription written above it in small capitals of a geometric sans-serif typeface.

The badge was redesigned in 1976, keeping blue as the main color, but slightly refining its shade, adopting a darker and deeper tone. The composition remained the same as the enlarged “LOT” made the main part of the logo, but was rewritten in a bolder typeface, with a small abstract plane image in the negative space of the “O”. The top line of the logo was rewritten in English, and now comprises the “Polish Airlines” inscription in a refined sans-serif.
